Counseling
Life is full of disappointments and trials. There can be times when it gets overwhelming and we need to be reminded of God’s faithfulness and purposes. It is for this reason that Grace Community Church offers Biblical counseling. We believe the Bible is God’s “Instruction Manual” as well as His love letter to us. By understanding God and His plans for mankind we find the peace and meaning for life that we cannot find anywhere else.
There are many around us who are hurting and lost. Once we are grounded in God’s Word, we can learn how to bring them to the feet of Jesus who said “Come to Me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
Services
We provide several different types of counseling at GCC including:
Individual Counseling: GCC offers Biblical counseling to individuals who need help with the personal issues they are struggling with. These issues may include fear, depression, loneliness, anger, addictions, eating disorders, self mutilation; or things such as knowing God’s will, suffering and trials. We will ask you to bring an advocate early on in the process.
Premarital Counseling: The Bible teaches that marriage is a beautiful gift given from God to a man and a woman for the purpose of bringing Him glory and making us holy. Godly marriage is a parable that mirrors Christ’s relationship with the church (Ephesians 5:31-33). Knowing this, Grace Community Church takes very seriously its responsibility to shepherd couples who are moving towards marriage.
Marriage Counseling: While marriage is a holy covenant between three parties –man, woman and God – we understand that men and women have a sin nature and that can cause serious problems in a marriage. These marriage issues can lead to anger, depression, loneliness, bitterness, isolation and brokenness. GCC Marital Counseling is designed to help couples find hope, healing and restoration for their marriage through the power of the Gospel. God has given us His manual, the Bible, that points us to all we need to grow in Christ and in our marriage. Through study, the proper application of the Word, reliance upon the Holy Spirit and engagement in Biblical community, couples can walk in wholeness and experience the joy and peace of a strong, satisfying, and God-honoring marriage. In our marriage counseling we will encourage you to have mentor partners or advocates to help as you apply the counsel given during the counseling sessions.
Family Counseling: God created the family structure as a backbone for human flourishing. Intimate relationships, spiritual growth, encouragement, admonishment, hope, love, etc. can all be experienced and received through the family. Because of the extreme importance of the family in both personal and corporate physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual growth, GCC takes family counseling opportunities with the utmost seriousness.
Are you in need of counseling?
If you would like to receive Biblical counseling at GCC, please fill out the Personal Data Inventory (PDI) form for GCC. After you submit your PDI, we will contact you within 48 hours to confirm that it has been received. We will consider your responses and connect you with a counselor. Your counselor will then contact you for scheduling. In the first meeting with your counselor, you will spend a few minutes going over forms that outline goals, expectations, and commitments of both those giving and receiving counsel. Once the forms have been completed, counseling will begin. The length and number of counseling sessions will vary from person to person.
